My next stop in Perth was at Legion 13. I taught an all female seminar to the most amazing bunch of ladies. We covered my favourite knee slide technique to some leg bar and toe hold combinations. I was lucky enough to do some training with the ladies including fellow black belt Joanne Masielo. It is always an honour to train with other black belts. Especially Aussie home grown ones!
According to the World Health Organization, the worldwide obesity rate has more than doubled since 1980. In 2014, 39 percent of adults over the age of eighteen were overweight, and 13 percent were obese.1 This is a scary statistic - almost half the world's population are overweight.
It’s no wonder so many people always seem to be on a diet of some sort. However, diets are part of the problem. Understanding the right way to eat is the key to avoid diets and all the negative aspects that go along with them. For athletes, understanding the powerful effects food has on the body can help you reach your sport-specific goals without dangerously cutting calories.
This is an excerpt of an article I wrote for the launch of the Australian Breaking Muscle magazine. In the article I discuss my journey of training for my respective sports and the my eating plans to achieve my desired goals. Read on if you want to know how I ate for optimum performance and to be stage show ready.
My first stop in Perth was at The Arena MMA. I had the pleasure of teaching this awesome group of people a couple or workshops as well as a seminar. The ladies group was really strong too with role models such as Crystal and Cara to pave the way for the yonger ones.
Thank you Keith and Taff for making this possible!
Check out Wonder Woman! ... I mean the lady in black who has 4 kids including an 8 week old baby and who helps run the gym and is out and about all day doing things for everyone. Women like these are the backbones of society. The support network that is so imperative but severely undervalued. There will be a time when the perspective shifts and the role of woman in all her power is profoundly honored. Empowered women empowering women.
Wonder women. Marie Sales, a mother of 4 kids who does it all.
During my time in Australia amongst all my arduous travelling I managed to find the time to hit the beach. Australian Summers are like no other. Bliss and blue skies. Enjoying life.
The Last few workshops I taught in Melbourne were full of empowered women, empowering other women. workshop at G force in Hadfield had many groups of mothers with their daughters. One mother brought her 3 daughters! How incredible. What a beautiful family! My other workshop at the Mint in Craigiburn had sisters working together and best friends. What an awesome female community BJJ has become.
Thank you G Force and The Mint for making this possible and for having me at your gyms.
I have had the pleasure of going to various gyms in Melbourne and training with many different talented ladies. Look at the Girl Power at Absolute Gym in Melbourne CBD and I was told this was a quiet night for the ladies. It is so nice to see more and more women training.
Check out all this awesomeness! So many ladies in one place all sharing the love of BJJ!. This was my seminar at Infinity, North Lakes, QLD. I focused on escaping and recovering guard and the concepts of moving yourself rather than moving your opponent. This is so important for women's BJJ. I am excited to be able to share these concepts and techniques with so many ladies! Thank you Marcus Collings for arranging this seminar.
